Review: Superbad may look at a typical high school film on the front, but it is actually much more. It follows a trio of high school seniors who decide to have one last party before leaving for college (and a last chance at grabbing a girl). The trio consists of Seth, Evan and Fogell. They make a sympathetic main cast that is very easy to compare. Their playing style is perfect for this type of film. Participate in them are several other intriguing characters. My favorite was the two policemen, Slater and Michaels. Almost every scene with them made me to laugh, from their references to other films to spoofs on an official, his classic slapstick comedy.The plot is definitely a strong point, unlike many comedies today. Most film follows two different story lines that terminal. Inter-woven into the plot are many jokes that made me laugh almost all the time. The plot itself is concerned, spirits, celebrations, and law enforcement, and somehow this works in a very strong story. Also the very close friendship between Seth and Evan is an element that the comedy genre expectations. The plot as a whole has many unrealistic details, but manages to successfully fuses comedy with some deeper meaning.The comedy aspects are some of the best ever. Some of the jokes were a little disgusting (especially the part about Seths youth), but I have to admit that they were hilarious. The beer was pretty cool aspects, and sexual jokes their thing. Law enforcement spoofs and gags McLovin was probably my favorite.The film as a whole is one of the best comedies ever. I have more than Knocked Up (7/10). It still struggling with a number of the shortcomings inherent in the comedy genre, but has much more value than most movies these days. A must for people who are high school or university, and also recommended (to a lesser extent) for everyone else. |
