Review: When I first saw this movie on VHS in the late 80s, I was shocked. 70s movie with a good message? I could not believe it. Note: children - be honest and reliable and dont be annoying parents - Dont spoil your kids or they will quickly be shown brats.Wow not wonder liberal critics Leonard Maltin as trash this movie. This is not a normal message delivery films that normally drives good and bad exalts. Thats what makes the story fresh, and most of the re-do that was released 2005.Peter Ostrum played Charlie likable and a very good one. Hes one of the nicest kids ever on screen and the actor was good. They are striking and it was the only film he ever made! Jack Albertson does a nice job Charlies loving grandfather and so bratty children, especially English girl who is so bad you have to laugh at her.The first part of the story was a good satire on how people sometimes do minor things, it is important that media will be performed as stupid questions. (Wow, look at him now!) The other half of the story is very exciting because co-star in the movie Willy Wonka - a no-nonsense candy maker that does not have to put up with brats - it was interesting to see. (Critics thought he was too ugly.) Gene Wilder is perfect as Willy. Yes, it has an average series and for him, but his comments are fun to hear and money, in spite of his lack of verbal tact. Most people want to Wilders Wonka version, by the way, through the strange-but-talented Johnny Depps. This was an entertaining movie, it ought to hold your interest. They are also an interesting comparison with the film in 2005. Frankly, I liked them both.
