Review: What Martin Scorcese has managed to do is add story dimensionality to a family film that has 3D technology. Some of the dimensions hes included which dont always for Hollywood blockbusters are imagined and original concept, thematic unity and resonance and deft homage to the film in the history of Georges M? Le? S pioneer.Saw French film screening film in advance and we were among many who were there, of course, is not the standard family film consumers. This is a film Scorcese can bring a lot of adults to Hugo and I think many of them, like me, will feel the film stands out as a show for all age groups.I particularly pleased resonance and complexity of the case clocks, clockworks, animatronics and dying in the machine - our fear, in the era of the industrial, which is perhaps just a quite complicated mechanism, not a divine creation. It is all beautifully rendered film. I doubt the kids are confused, and older viewers can choose the levels and layers in a fun and visually interesting film.Good throughout. 3D is used in the service of the story. I hope Hollywood is watching and note that the special effects are only special when the heart of the machine, such as Hugos little man. |
